Jacqueline Fernandez is a Sri Lankan actor from Manama, Bahrain and was raised in a multi-ethnic home. Her father, Elroy Fernandez is a from Sri Lanka. Her brothers are elder, and two younger ones. Her family was born and raised in Bahrain. The family of her parents moved there in the 1980s as a result of the turmoil that occurred in Sri Lanka. After graduating from school in Bahrain she was awarded a Scholarship at the University of Sydney to pursue a Media and Communications Degree in Sydney, Australia. A lover of cultures and different languages, she joined Berlitz Language School, where she learned Spanish and honed her French as well as Arabic. Miss Sri Lanka 2006 won Miss Universe 2006 competition in March 2006. She also was also crowned Miss Universe 2006 also. In 2006 she won her the Miss Sri Lanka title. After that, she went on television as a host of the show about Sri Lankan business named Lanka Business Report. Padukone's father is badminton-player Prakash Padukone. Padukone has had a childhood in Copenhagen as well as Bangalore. As a teenager Padukone competed in a variety of National badminton competitions. She eventually gave up the sport when she decided to become a fashion model. Padukone's native language is Konkani. The model is Mangalorean in her origins. Padukone Village is situated within Kundapura Taluk within the Udupi District of Karnataka in India. Prakash Padukone was a badminton legend before retiring in the 80s. The mother of her daughter, who worked for a travel agency also comes from this village.
